Employment agreements are intended to set forth in writing the terms and conditions of the employment relationship between the employer and the employee. Such terms and conditions often include the employee’s job duties, compensation (including bonuses and fringe benefits), and contemplated length of employment. They may also include restrictive covenants, such as non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure covenants, which serve to protect the employer’s legitimate business interests. In addition, employment agreements typically include a process by which an employee may be terminated without exposing the employer to potential liability for breach of contract.
